Treadle

What's free, what's paid, and what happens after the trial

Updated October 1, 2026

Treadle's free plan is useful on its own. A 14-day trial unlocks everything, and a one-time paid licence keeps it unlocked for good, with two years of updates included. There is no subscription — you buy once, and the version you own keeps working after that.

Free

  • One pre-built deck. It is set up for you, not empty.
  • Every built-in action.
  • Shortcuts. See Use a Shortcut as an action.
  • One paired device — an iPad or iPhone.

The trial

On first launch you get 14 days fully unlocked. When the trial ends, Treadle falls back to the free plan. Nothing is lost.

Paid

The paid licence is a one-time purchase and includes two years of updates. See Updates. After that window you can renew for more updates, and there is a lifetime tier for a larger one-time price. Current prices are on the pricing page.

Paid unlocks:

  • More than one deck. See Build your first deck.
  • Custom icons and themes.
  • Custom commands. See Write your own command.
  • Controls that take a value — toggles, levels and prompts. See Controls that take a value.
  • Scenes: one button runs a list of steps.
  • Hold and rules: a second action on hold, and first-match logic.
  • Dashboard tiles: read-only status on the panel.
  • Integrations: your own read-only GitHub, and OBS on your local network.
  • Live state indicators.
  • Per-device layouts.
  • Unlimited iPads and iPhones paired to your Mac. One licence covers one Mac; the free plan works with one device.

After the trial ends

Nothing is deleted. Your decks stay on your panel. The paid ones are greyed out until you buy. The moment you activate a licence they come back exactly as you left them.

Buying and refunds

Payments go through Paddle, the reseller and merchant of record. Refunds are 30 days, no questions asked. To buy and activate, see Activate, deactivate and move to a new Mac. Questions: support@gettreadle.ca.
