Use an action pack

Updated October 1, 2026

An action pack is a ready-made set of controls for a common task. Open the Packs browser in the Mac editor, pick a pack, and it adds its controls to a deck in one step — so you get a working panel without building every button by hand.

Add a pack

  1. On the Mac, open the menu-bar popover and choose Edit decks….
  2. Open the Packs browser.
  3. Pick a pack and add it to a deck.

The pack's controls are copied onto the deck as fresh copies. You can edit them like any control you added yourself: change a label, change an icon, or swap the action. Editing a copy does not change the pack.

After you add one

If a pack control does nothing

A pack control runs the same kinds of actions you could add by hand, so the same causes apply: a missing permission, or an app that is not installed. See A button does nothing when I press it and permissions.

Packs are built in and free to use. Fitting their controls across more than one deck is a paid feature, since multiple decks are paid. See What's free, what's paid.

Questions & answers

Can I change a pack after adding it?
Yes. Once a pack's controls are on a deck they are ordinary controls — rename, re-icon, move or delete any of them.
Do packs cost extra?
No. Packs are part of Treadle; there's nothing extra to buy for them.
